Student Residences – Refund Policy

A. RENTAL PAYMENT

1) The rental is refundable subject to a minimum rental period of 6 months. In the event the Student chooses to move out before the determination / expiry of the 6 month period, only advance rental of 6 months’ or less will be refunded less any other applicable payments or disbursements that are due.

B. DEPOSIT

1) The Deposit cannot be used to offset any outstanding rental.
2) Any application for refund of Hostel Deposit (Deposit) must be made via the Refund Form, which is available at the Hostel Management Office.
3) The refund of the Deposit may only be claimed by the Student or the Student’s parent / guardian / sponsor.
4) The Deposit will only be refunded AFTER:-
(i) The Student has served one (1) months’ notice and terminated his/her tenancy agreement for the hostel accommodation;
(ii) The Student has returned the Hostel access card; and
(iii) The Student has settled all outstanding utility and other charges for the hostel accommodation.
5) Refund of any deposit is subject to the Hostel Management’s approval.
6) Refund of the Deposit will take within 4 to 8 weeks to process.
7) Refund will be made payable to the Student’s name unless expressly specified otherwise in writing by the Student’s or Student’s parent/guardian and will be remitted to the account details stated in the Refund Form.
8) For Students who check out from the Hostel without settling their respective hostel accounts, all outstanding charges will be deducted from the Deposit. An additional penalty equivalent to one (1) month’s rental shall be charged to the said Student.
9) Students who check-out/terminate the tenancy agreement without clearing their accounts may also be subjected to additional costs as the Management is hereby authorised to commence recovery proceedings to collect the amount/s in arrears and all such additional costs shall be borne by the said Student. A minimum amount of RM100.00 shall be imposed on the Student in the above circumstance.
10) Any requests for refund before termination or immediate refund of Deposit will not be entertained.
